Knowing What to Expect

Preparing for surgery can feel overwhelming or scary if you don’t know what to expect. You may have some unanswered questions and worries that make you feel this way. Knowing what to expect will help you feel less nervous and more in control.

Advanced Outpatient Procedures

St. Cloud Surgical Center stands apart in the field of orthopedic surgery as an outpatient surgical center in Central Minnesota that offers advanced total knee and hip replacement, as well as partial knee replacement utilizing robotics. We have invested significant time and resources to make St. Cloud Surgical Center’s Hip & Knee Replacement Program the standard for others to follow. It has been demonstrated that the complication rate in patients having joint replacements in an outpatient facility is far lower than in a general hospital.

Our success in performing total and partial joint replacement is based on several factors:

  1. Surgical Excellence:
Our board-certified and nationally recognized orthopedic specialists are highly trained and experienced in leading edge treatment options.
  1. Team Approach:
The physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses and support team work together to ensure seamless transitions, from admission to discharge.
  1. Individualized Care:
With our dedicated team, patients receive the education, comfort and encouragement needed to manage their own care from home.
  1. Faster Recovery:
Physical therapy is key to a good recovery and successful joint replacement surgery. Patients meet one-on-one with a physical therapist prior to the date of surgery to evaluate the knee and provide recommendations to help with any deficits in strength or range of motion that could improve post-operative outcomes. Patients up and moving within hours after surgery is completed. Our nurses have been specially trained on exercises and restrictions specific to knee and hip replacements as well as safe walking, climbing stairs and the use of ambulatory aids.

New, Minimally Invasive Total Hip Replacement Procedure

With our Arch table, we offer a new and less invasive way to replace your hip. The table assists us during an anterior approach to hip surgery. It positions the body in such a way that we can reach the hip joint easily from the front of the body rather than the side or back. We can use an incision that is less than half the length required by older approaches. More importantly, we can do the procedure without cutting any muscle. This means you’ll have healthy muscle to support your new joint immediately after surgery.

Our New Approach Offers Patients Multiple Benefits

With outpatient hip and knee joint replacement, you can enjoy recovering in the comfort, safety and familiarity of your own home.

St. Cloud Surgical Center utilizes a UV disinfection system (The Xenex) between all cases to maximize a clean and sterile environment. The Xenex Germ Zapping Robot is one of the many ways to prevent infections. The Xenex Robot reduces the bacterial load often associated with an increased risk for hospital acquired infection. You can learn more about this technology at www.xenex.com.
