With a wide range of eye conditions affecting those over 40, it is difficult to keep them all straight. Dr. Andrea Joplin and Dr. Mitchell Gossman of Eye Associates of Central Minnesota talked with us recently about some of these common conditions.

While cataract is a well-known term, many find themselves fuzzy on what a cataract actually is. The key term in the above sentence being “fuzzy,” a cataract is a cloudiness of the natural lens of the eye. As Dr. John A. Dvorak of Dvorak Eye Clinic explains, “Essentially, a cataract acts like a dirty window for your eye.”

Dr. Dvorak is no stranger to Ophthalmology. He opened Dvorak Eye Clinic in March of 2017 and has over 20 years of experience in conventional cataract surgery, laser-assisted cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK, laser eye surgery, and any comprehensive ophthalmic surgery. Dr. Dvorak sat down with us to explain the symptoms and treatments for cataracts.

Mary knew she needed to do something about her failing knees, but she didn’t know that she would receive one of the first knee replacements of it’s kind.

Mary’s knees had started bothering her about three years ago, but the pain had gotten progressively worse recently. She decided it was time to take action when everyday tasks started to become almost unbearable.

“If I went grocery shopping, by the time I got out to the car, my knees were killing me and I was struggling just to get into the car,” Mary described.
